Why I built aboutthe.app
My name is Roman Banar, and I've been building software for more than 25 years. I built aboutthe.app for purely practical reasons: to get rid of browser bookmarks, to give other people working on an app access to the same services, and above all to have direct links to the actual projects, settings, dashboards and admin panels — no extra clicking around to find them. Bookmarks for everything an app needs to run, kept right inside the app itself. Since it turned out to be genuinely useful, I decided to open it up to everyone and keep adding features along the way (API, integrations, installations and versions, components, and more).
Apps outlive their documentation
Repositories, documentation, environments, external services, user support — everything has its own tool. Keeping an overview and linking straight to the right place saves time and makes things easier to manage.
One hub, two ways to use it
aboutthe.app keeps everything about an app in one web hub. From the other side, it gives you a view across all your apps, their customers, and which version each one has installed.
Built in real projects
I use it across my own web, mobile and desktop apps, including aboutthe.app itself. The live example below is genuinely real — it's the actual set of services I maintain for this app.
